Soft and silky to touch; smiley and cuddly for little ones
These lovely toys are handmade from either cotton or alpaca wool in Peru.
Supported by social enterprise, Manuela Ramos, female artisans are taking control of their own futures by commercialising their craft.
Manuela Ramos (a fictitious name representing the anonymity of women whose everyday struggles go unrecognised) was started almost 40 years ago in 1978 by a grass roots movement of women who met weekly to discuss their "personal lives, dissatisfactions, hopes and ideals". That movement evolved into an organisation championing women's rights through a range of initiatives from education and health to an income generation program, "The House of the Woman Artisan".
Over 800,000 people across Peru have been helped by promoting their creative talents from clothes to toys to homewares.
